Der eben aus dem Krieg heimgekehrte Marc wohnt mit seiner Schwester Arndis im beschaulichen Dorf Nomen Tuum. Dort sind auch Dämonen am Werk: Die schöne Kia hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, schwache und bestechliche Menschen zu verführen und sie dem Satan zu opfern. Müde vom ewig gleichen Spiel, sieht Kia in der reinen Seele Marcs eine Herausforderung: Ihn ins Unglück zu stürzen, wäre eine viel größere Genugtuung. Ihre Lehrmeisterin Amael warnt zwar vor der Liebe, der stärksten und für Dämonen gefährlichsten Kraft der Menschen, doch Kia setzt sich darüber hinweg. Mittels Täuschung versucht sie, Marc ihren Willen aufzuzwingen. Doch dann passiert tatsächlich, womit sie nicht gerechnet hat: Kia verliebt sich in Marc. Tief entsetzt und voller Abscheu über die auf sie einströmende Gefühlsflut, vollführt sie ein Ritual zur Erweckung des Incubus, der Rache an Marc üben soll.

He inhabits Marc with an easy grace, capturing both his light heart and nobility with a subtle performance, the likes of which we'll never see again from the future Captain Kirk. In his fluid delivery of the lines, Shatner breathes life into Esperanto, causing us to wonder momentarily if he isn't a native speaker." (Images Journal)

"As a horror film, Incubus is not only unique, but entertaining. The shallow seriousness of William Shatner is nowhere near as impressive as in Corman's The Intruder, but he's still very moving. These demonic women are an excellent horror threat of the repressive, conservative kind that identifies sensuality with Evil. Our hero is too good to be suspicious of Evil until it is too late, and the dark implication is that there is something amiss with the idea of an affair with a beautiful stranger." (DVD Savant)

"The usual dialogue patterns don't seem as present here and in truth, Shatner turns in a solid performance, very impressive indeed. This was a quick shoot and the budget was small, but Shatner seems to be up to the task and has some very good scenes in this flick. It is a little strange to see him speaking Esperanto at times, but he is decent enough and doesn't often botch it up too much." (DVD Authority)
